What Does “Dependent” Mean In The Context Of The CGHS?
According to the national government health system, a person is considered dependent if their total monthly income is less than Rs 9,000, plus their daily allowance (DA). However, spouses are exempt from this.
What Age Range Falls Under The CGHS For Dependent Children?
Male children are eligible to be dependents under the CGHS until they become 25, begin working, or get married, whichever comes first. However, if the child develops a disability (physical or mental) before the age of 25, he is still entitled to compensation after that age. Regardless of age, a female child is eligible to be a dependent under the CGHS until she begins working or marries, whichever occurs earlier.
Can Family Members Who Don’t Live With The Central Government Employee Qualify For The Programme?
The central government employee may have dependent family members living with them. However, they are entitled to the services provided there under the health programme if they are visiting a city included on the CHGS list.
